White rice refers to milled rice that had its husk, germ and bran removed. Following a polishing, the rice has a bright white and shiny appearance. Although this process extends the shelf-life of the rice, it removes important nutrients such as fiber and thiamine. White rice is sometimes enriched with the nutrients that get removed during processing.

White rice is often found in recipes that also contain saffron, shrimp, haddock, red snapper, chicken stock and Poblano peppers
