Cranberry Chutney

A chunky cranberry-based sauce. Goes well over turkey

Original recipe serves 20.

Ingredients

12 ounces cranberries ; fresh
1 cup water
1 cup apples ; peeled, cored, diced
1/4 teaspoon allspice
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup raisins
1/8 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon ginger
3/4 cup sugar

Preparation:

Combine water and sugar in a large saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Add apples, cider vinegar, raisins, the spices and cranberries. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Pour into a bowl, and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate, or cool to room temperature and serve. Original recipe yields 2 1/2 cups.
