Put this sweet sauce on pancakes, ice cream, pastries, or whatever else you can think of.

Ingredients (serves 3)

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 dash salt
  • 0.0625 teaspoon nutmeg ; ground
  • 1/4 cup water ; boiling
  • 1/2 cup blueberries ; fresh
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch

    In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, salt and nutmeg. Slowly stir in boiling water. Cook until bubbly and thick, stirring constantly. Cook for about 2 minutes more. Stir in blueberries, bring to a boil and cook until berries begin to pop. Remove from heat. Stir in lemon juice. Cool. Makes 1 1/2 cup of sauce.
