Ingredients (serves 24)

  • 4 1/2 cups water ; boiling
  • 3 cups oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 cups butter
  • 3 cups brown sugar
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 egg(s)
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 3 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups walnuts

    Pour water over oatmeal, let stand. Cream the butter and sugar, add eggs. Add oatmeal and dry ingredients, then the nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
