White Zinfandel

White Zinfandel
White Zinfandel is a pale, rose-colored wine made from the zinfandel grape. The zinfandel grape itself is red, so white zinfandel is made from these grapes with the skin removed. The resulting wine is light and very sweet.

White Zinfandel is fairly new to the wine world, and has gained in popularity in the 80s. It is often looked down upon by wine connoisseurs for its newcomer status and sweetness. However, White Zinfandel certainly has its place. It goes well with fruit salads, and cream-based sauces with pasta, pork, chicken, and generally lighter meals.

The flavor characteristics of White Zinfandel often include vanilla, strawberry, orange. cherry and raspberry.

White Zinfandel does not age well, and should be drunk within 6 months. It should be served at around 54°F (12°C).
