Ingredients (serves 8)

  • 1 1/3 cups brown sugar ; firmly packed
  • 2/3 cup butter ; softened
  • 2 egg(s)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons light cream
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • sugar ; granulated

    Directions

     Prep: 30 min | Cook: 10 min | Ready in: 40 min
    1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C).
    2. Spray a large cookie sheet with cooking spray. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar.
    3. Add the cream. Add eggs and vanilla, and beat until smooth.
    4. In a medium bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar and salt.
    5. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture, and combine until dough forms.
    6. Roll dough out onto a floured surface, about 1/4 thick, adding more flour as needed to prevent sticking.
    7. Use a 3 inch diameter cookie cutter to cut dough, and place on prepared cookie sheet. Sprinkle lightly with granulated sugar.
    8. Bake at 350F (175C) for 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center of cookies comes out clean.
    9. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before eating.
    Original recipe makes about 17 cookies.
