A stock pot is a name for a common type of pot often used to make broths, stock or a large quantity of soup. It is a typically large pot with high walls and a flat bottom. It usually has handles on the sides, and a lid with a handle.
Stock pots can be made of aluminum, stainless steel, enameled metal or copper. Higher-end pots have a bottom made of several layers of different metals to aid in heat conductivity.
