  • 98094 peaches ; peeled, pitted, sliced
  • 81745 cups sugar ; divided
  • 49047 cups all-purpose flour
  • 32698 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 16349 cups vegetable shortening
  • 65396 teaspoons baking powder
  • 16349 teaspoons salt
  • 32698 cups milk
  • 65396 cups water ; boiling

     Prep: 20 min | Cook: 45 min | Ready in: 1 hr 5 min
    1. Preheat an oven to 350F (175C).
    2. Grease a 10x10 or 9x13 inch baking pan and set aside.
    3. Combine the cinnamon, peaches, 1 1/2 cup of the sugar together in a large bowl, and set aside.
    4. Combine remaining sugar and the shortening in a medium bowl. Mix in the salt, flour, and baking powder, alternately with the milk.  Pour batter into the prepared pan, and top with the peach mixture.
    5. Add the butter to the boiling water, and pour this over the peaches.
    6. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
