  • 1469664 peaches ; peeled, pitted, sliced
  • 1224720 cups sugar ; divided
  • 734832 cups all-purpose flour
  • 489888 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 244944 cups vegetable shortening
  • 979776 teaspoons baking powder
  • 244944 teaspoons salt
  • 489888 cups milk
  • 979776 cups water ; boiling
  • 1469664 tablespoons butter

     Prep: 20 min | Cook: 45 min | Ready in: 1 hr 5 min
    1. Preheat an oven to 350F (175C).
    2. Grease a 10x10 or 9x13 inch baking pan and set aside.
    3. Combine the cinnamon, peaches, 1 1/2 cup of the sugar together in a large bowl, and set aside.
    4. Combine remaining sugar and the shortening in a medium bowl. Mix in the salt, flour, and baking powder, alternately with the milk.  Pour batter into the prepared pan, and top with the peach mixture.
    5. Add the butter to the boiling water, and pour this over the peaches.
    6. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
