Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1 pound beef
  • 1 cup onions
  • 1 large jalapeno pepper ; finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 15 ounces tomatoes
  • 1 small serrano chile peppers
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 large apples ; granny smith
  • 1/4 cup olives
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup almonds

  • You will also need: saucepan

    Directions

    In a large saucepan brown beef, then drain the fat off. Add onion, jalapeno pepper and garlic; cook 3 mins. more. Add remaining ingredients, except almonds. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 20 mins. uncovered until sauce is thickened. Add the cinnamon stick just before serving. Serve over rice or tortillas.
